Evaluations
Canine Evaluation
Are you uncertain of what program meets your needs? We offer an optional, evaluation to assist you. This is a private session with you, your dog and a professional trainer, lasting approximately 45 minutes. During this session several questions will be asked to gather information on your dog’s background, learn what training goals you have for you and your dog and the time frame desired. At this time we will also observe the interactions of your dog. This will assist us in determining your dog’s personality and temperament so we will be able to recommend a training program that best suits both you and your dog’s needs. If you would prefer we come to your home for the evaluation or if the behavior you’re experiencing needs to be observed in your home, the cost of the evaluation is $50. in the Boone, Kenton, Campbell and Pendleton County area. If you’d like to bring your dog to us for the evaluation, the evaluation is Free.

The following training programs are designed to teach dogs and owners at different levels from basic manners to addressing fearful or aggressive behaviors. In order for all of our programs to be successful, it is imperative for owner(s) to work at home to change patterns and behaviors as instructed by the trainer. Your willingness to incorporate the obedience commands into everyday life, as instructed by your trainer, is crucial for success. The time and energy you invest will determine how much you and your dog are able to accomplish. The following is a breakdown of what each training program offers you and your dog.

Let us assist you with our decades of experience! We’ll start with an Evaluation to assess your dog and to discuss the dynamics of your particular situation. There are many types of, reasons for and causes of aggression in dogs. Every situation is different and one solution doesn’t fit all! Private Sessions
Private Sessions - not available at this time due to Covid19
One on one, exclusive time dedicated to you and your dog, tailored to your specific needs. Private lessons ensure your dog will be the focus of the trainer’s attention at all times. These sessions can be used to continue building upon an already established training program foundation or to begin establishing obedience with your dog. You’ll have the freedom to choose when, the frequency and where the sessions will take place based on availability and goals. Rate ranges from $100-$175 per session + KY Service Tax of 6%. Note: Rate does not apply to dogs with aggression. Private lessons can be purchased in a package or session by session. Rates determined during evaluation are based on training goals and number of lessons scheduled in advance.
Private Off Leash Package - This package includes 4 private 1 hour sessions and will be tailored toward solving the existing problems you are experiencing and working towards your specific goals. Each package differs slightly according the your needs but we typically address -
- Loose leash walking – For when you need it- no matter who is walking them
- “Come” – reliably!
- “Place” command; a crate without walls – giving your dog a place to go to when company arrives so they can greet them politely or to wait patiently while your family eats dinner
- “Let’s Go” – a casual off leash walk
- “Off”- to prevent jumping, playbiting and destructive chewing
- “OK” – a release word
You’ll also receive 7 FREE classes to join us in a group setting for “Polishing” class or “On the Go!” to continue building your dogs new skills! Rate estimate: $975+ KY Service Tax of 6%. Remote collar included. In order for this program to be successful you must be prepared to dedicate 1-2 hours of your time every day in between our weekly sessions to working with your dog, varying session lengths, times of day, locations, etc. This commitment must be met even when the weather does not cooperate, or your availability is limited due to other commitments. If this commitment is not met you and your dog will not meet your goals by the end of the 4 week program.
Residency Programs
Residency Training - Boarding School and Day Training
Have you run out of patience or need your dog trained quickly? Do you have a busy, hectic schedule that may not allow for you to do the training your canine companion needs? Perhaps you just feel more comfortable putting your pooch’s training in the hands of a professional? A residency program may be just the thing for you. Your dog will be trained in a variety of environments, including with outside distractions and in real life situations. Going on vacation or out of town for a business trip? Consider sending your dog to school while you’re away. Vacation with the peace of mind knowing your canine companion is not only in great hands but also learning new manners and come home to a well-behaved dog! If you and your family can’t stand to part with your dog for the length of the training program we do offer day camp for each of the programs on some occasions, if we feel the dog can still be successful in their training. Simply drop your dog off in the morning and pick them up after work. Your dog will be trained during their stay with us and all the training will be transitioned to you at the end of the training program.
As with ANY training; group classes, private sessions or residency training, ongoing consistency is required to maintain progress. Just like with a fitness boot-camp, a residency training program teaches new behaviors and builds a foundation to kick-start your new habits in the home. A daily "diet" of consistency is necessary to maintain the level of training accomplished during the program. If your dog is not held accountable to what they have been taught are appropriate behaviors, they will digress through no fault of their own. It is your responsibility to apply what your dog has learned and include it in your day to day life.
Off Leash Residency Programs
Your dog will learn to behave when off leash, allowing you to have fun with your dog while still having the control you need to keep them safe.
Advanced Off Leash Training – Approximately 14-20 training days (depends on the individual dog) - With a Lifetime Assistance GUARANTEE with the training we have provided!!
Your dog will learn the Do’s and Don’ts!
- Loose leash walking – For when you need it- no matter who is walking them
- “Come” – reliably!
- “Wait” to prevent bolting through doors or tripping you up or down the stairs
- “Sit” & “Down” with a built in “Stay” to hold it until you release them
- “Place” command; a crate without walls – giving your dog a place to go to when company arrives so they can greet them politely or to wait patiently while your family eats dinner
- “Let’s Go” – a casual off leash walk
- “Off”- to prevent jumping, play biting and destructive chewing
- “Quiet” – signaling for your dog to stop barking or whining
- “Heel” – a more formal on leash command with a “sit” each time you stop
- “Leave It” – to divert attention away from something
- “Kennel” – - used to have your dog go into their kennel or crate.
- “OK” – a release word
We’ll also work through problem behaviors and teach your dog what not to do; not to jump on people, bark uncontrollably, eat off of the countertops or tables and to stay off the furniture if you don’t want them on it. At the end of your dog’s stay with us, we’ll need you to plan on spending at least 2 hours with us so we can transition your happy, well-behaved dog’s training over to you. You’ll also receive 7 FREE classes to join us in a group setting for “Polishing” class or “On the Go!” to continue building your dogs new skills! Rate estimate: $3000,+ KY Service Tax of 6%. Remote collar included. Boarding sold separately @ $35 per day, + KY Service Tax of 6%. For high level fear, anxiety or aggression based behaviors a Modified program may be offered with an extended stay and additional costs.
Intermediate Off Leash Training - Approximately 10-14 days (depends on the individual dog) - With a Lifetime Assistance GUARANTEE on the training we have provided!!

Remote collar included. Boarding sold separately @ $35 per day + KY Service Tax of 6%. For high level fear, anxiety or aggression based behaviors a Modified program may be offered with an extended stay and additional costs.

At Northern Kentucky K9 we promise to provide you with free on-going support for the behaviors we trained for during your dog's program for as long as you have your dog! While no form of training can guarantee that your dog will ALWAYS be well-behaved, we will instill in you the skills and training needed to successfully maintain a wonderful lifetime relationship with your dog. Follow-up support is provided as needed by phone, e-mail, private or group lessons, or board and train options, based on situation and trainer's recommendation. All we ask is that you follow our instructions. Owning a dog is a responsibility and there will be work involved. However, together we can make owning a dog fun and relatively easy. *Specific terms of the Northern Kentucky K9 guarantee are set forth in the training agreement at the time of purchase.
