Primer - An introductory on any subject, particularly basic concepts.
Our Primer Program is a flexible drop off training option designed to help introduce your puppy or dog to the very entry level of foundation work. We utilize shaping, luring and marker training with positive reinforcement of treats and praise to first help guide your puppy/dog into the behaviors we're seeking. It's important to set our dogs up for success by giving them the entry level skills to understand what we'e asking of them and how to work with people instead of against them. Examples of this are Sit, Down, Off, Place, Touch, focus exercises, tricks and more. This program is designed to allow you to customize a training program to fit your dog’s needs. We offer training on multiple days per week allowing you to schedule one or multiple sessions in a day. A trainer will work with your dog for 30 minutes per session. This may be one 30 minute session, two 15 min sessions or three 10 min sessions, based on the dog's needs. At the end of the day you will be given a progress report detailing what your dog worked on today and your homework until your next scheduled session. Training sessions can be scheduled while your dog is at Erlanger Pet Resort for daycare, grooming or boarding. If your dog is not scheduled for any of these services, you may bring your dog for a half day of boarding (drop off from 630-830am- pickup at 12n) for the cost of $15 per half day. Need to leave your dog longer? No problem, a full day of dayboarding (pickup by 6p) is $31.50.
This program may not be for every dog so in order to determine if you and your dog are a good fit we
require an evaluation as an opportunity to discuss your goals and see your dog’s current behavior. If
your dog is a good candidate for this program and you choose to sign up, we will schedule a 30 min
orientation for you and your dog. During this orientation we will discuss your role in training and how you will be conducting homework with your dog if you want their newly learned behaviors to transfer over to home life.

Have you run out of patience or need your dog trained quickly? Do you have a busy, hectic schedule that may not allow for you to do the training your canine companion needs? Perhaps you just feel more comfortable putting your pooch’s training in the hands of a professional? A residency program may be just the thing for you. Your dog will be trained in a variety of environments, including with outside distractions and in real life situations. Going on vacation or out of town for a business trip? Consider sending your dog to school while you’re away. Vacation with the peace of mind knowing your canine companion is not only in great hands but also learning new manners and come home to a well-behaved dog! If you and your family can’t stand to part with your dog for the length of the training program we do offer day camp for each of the programs on some occasions, if we feel the dog can still be successful in their training. Simply drop your dog off in the morning and pick them up after work. Your dog will be trained during their stay with us and all the training will be transitioned to you at the end of the training program.
As with ANY training; group classes, private sessions or residency training, ongoing consistency is required to maintain progress. Just like with a fitness boot-camp, a residency training program teaches new behaviors and builds a foundation to kick-start your new habits in the home. A daily "diet" of consistency is necessary to maintain the level of training accomplished during the program. If your dog is not held accountable to what they have been taught are appropriate behaviors, they will digress through no fault of their own. It is your responsibility to apply what your dog has learned and include it in your day to day life.
Your dog will learn to behave when off leash, allowing you to have fun with your dog while still having the control you need to keep them safe.
