Approx 90 min of discussion covering housebreaking, crate training, what is reasonable to expect from puppies in the 7-16 week period & basic development, proper/safe toy selection, treats, What is proper socialization, what are the challenges of a puppy, based on breed may be for each owner to help prepare them. Q&A (NO PUPPIES ATTEND THIS CLASS- existing and expectant new owners).
This will be a 2 week program, meeting once per week for 45-60 min. Age appropriate for puppies in the 10-16 week range. Various handling exercises, object socialization, discussion of safe/proper socialization for the age level, intro to basic body language from puppy to prevent over stressing of puppies when encountering new people, situations, environments, objects, Q&A, discussion topic- toenail trimming or intro to first aid awareness (checking for dehydration, capillary refill, how to take temp, emergency contact info in your first aid kit, etc).
Weekly class of 6 weeks in length. Age appropriate for puppies in the 3.5-7 month range. Early stages of shaping basic manners- leash walking, sit, down, stay, proper greeting behaviors (4 on the floor), focus exercises, recall. Meets the requirements for the AKC Puppy S.T.A.R Program.
Intro to Basic Manners
Early stages of building basic on-leash manners with a focus on marker training and positive reinforcement. Bring tasty high value treats!.- Focus on leash walking, sit, down, stay, proper greeting behaviors (4 on the floor), focus exercises, recall. Adding light distractions. This class is geared toward the dog over 6 months of age without high fear or reactivity challenges. Most tools are welcome in this class provided the dog is not distressed by it and the dog can be safely handled; flat collars, slip collars, head collars, prong collars, harnesses, limited slips. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES. Must have a 5-6 foot standard, non-adjustable leash.
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep Class (Coming Soon)
In this 7 week class we work on polishing all the elements required to pass the test to earn an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate. Some of the elements covered are stays with distraction, recalls with distraction, loose leash walking, accepting a friendly stranger, walking past other dogs, and sitting nicely for petting. Testing will be done within a week of the conclusion of the class. Completion of Intro to Basic Manners or equivalent is required.
AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a great first step toward Therapy Dog work or having a canine companion you have prepared for a more active social life in public settings.
Intro to Puppy Fun-gility 101 (Early 2019 - based on interest)
Weekly class of 6 weeks in length. Age appropriate for puppies in the 3-8 month range. Not the place for aggression behavior challenges. This class is casual and relaxed with a focus on confidence and team building through the intro to various puppy-scaled obstacles that may or may not be in formal agility sports such as a low dog walk, wobble board, table, tunnels, trampoline, jumps of not more than 4 inches, etc.
Intro to Fun-gility 101 & Fun-gility 102 (Coming SPRING 2019)
These fun-focused classes are similar in layout to the puppy fun-gility classes but with adult dogs as teams members, the equipment may increase in size a bit faster as the class progresses. Dogs under 18 months remain on low jumps for proper joint development. This class is for the non-reactive dog.
Intro to Novice Rally Obedience (Coming 2019 - based on interest)
Intro to the sport of rally obedience. We will cover all the AKC novice level signs and Novice exercises, can be prep for competition or just fun team building and adding some FUN to your obedience work. Weekly class of 6 weeks in length. Age appropriate for puppies or dogs who have a basic but semi-consistent loose leash walk on the left, sit and down in the presence of other dogs. Basic Manners or equivalent if recommended prerequisite. This class is for the non-reactive dog.
Intro to Scent Games 101
Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt/seek. This class focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It’s a great class for your dog to have fun, build confidence and burn mental and physical energy. Our approach to teaching dogs to do scent work for fun is based on the foundation skills used in K9 scent detection work. The unique curriculum we utilize in our classes promotes a positive, fun and motivationally-based methodology. Class size is limited to 6 dogs maximum, for individual attention.This is a 5 week class focused on scent FUN! Introductory Rate - $100 + KY Service Tax of 6%.
Scent Games 102 - Intro to Odor
This class advances the dog’s scent discrimination skills taught in level one. All dogs are taught to identify the same scent, a natural essential oil. Additionally, we introduce techniques and tactics for building better dog/handler teamwork. High food or toy motivation is beneficial for this class. Introductory Rate - $100 + KY Service Tax of 6%.

Just as the name says, it's a hodgepodge of fun things to work with your puppy on. As Winter approaches it's nice to have some indoor activities/games to do with your pup to engage their brain throughout the day, providing some mental exercise. This 2 session class is geared toward the pup in the 3-6 month range and will be entirely on leash. This class will not be focused on addressing problem behaviors in the home such as housebreaking, playbiting, crate training, etc. but is a time to learn how to guide your puppy in learning to do new things, confidence and communication building. - $40 + KY Service Tax of 6%.
